Starving Artist LLC was formed in the Ethos and is based in Detroit. The starving artist movement aims to forge an intersectional artist community that accepts those who do not fit within today’s societal norms; achieving the common goal to CREATE meaningful work by any means necessary.
The most recent project was in collaboration with Pabst Blue Ribbon’s: Pabst Sound Society and curated by Cyrah Dardas.
Artists Deja Jones and Cyrah Dardas were tasked with exploring their personal identities in the context of their cultural futurism. The entire presentation shifts from day to night with over the course of an evening on the patio of The Magic Stick in Detroit, MI.
Another previous project was a group installation experience curated by Cyrah Dardas.
Franchesca Lamaree, Deja Jones, Cyrah Dardas and Taylor Childs investigate the identities of 5 femme identifying, Detroit native musicians, isolating and encapsulating the ways in which they present their gender. The exhibition features installative work of Cyrah Dardas, Franchesca Lamaree, Deja Jones and Taylor Childs, as well as the visual art of Bakpak Durden, Gisela McDaniel, Olivia Guterson, Paul "Fifty" Johnson, Donovan Dewberry, Ijania Cortez, Franchesca Lamarre, Cyrah Dardas, and Cydney Camp.
